Since the homeowner was drawn towards striking graphic borders, we used that detail in the shower floor tile and even the dark schluter outlining of the shower doors and walls.
When not in use, the TV/mirror above the living room mantle reflects the sunlight and the red accent wall opposite the room.
We did a modern take on craftsman style for the built in bookcases and mantle, using color and gloss finishes to keep it fresh.
The tufted, red chair carries that color further into the room from the opposite staircase wall. Repeating details like the layered rugs and cabinetry/millwork help make different functional spaces feel like one cohesive space.
The Issey Miyake light fixture above the dining table along with the cowhide rugs reflect the modern taste of the homeowner, while still respecting the house's origins.
The color and style of the bookcases with the french doors in the dining room imitate the configuration of the living room bookcases and mantle.
